Meet Your Instructors

✨ Vanessa Meirelles

Dance has been part of Vanessa’s life since she was 9 years old. With a background in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary Dance, Zouk and Lambada, her journey has always been deeply connected to understanding the body — not only how it moves, but how it feels and expresses itself through movement.

Today, as a professional dancer, international teacher and World Lambada Champion, Vanessa brings all of these experiences together to help followers discover more freedom, confidence and individuality in their dance.

She believes that being a great follower is not simply about responding to a lead. It is about understanding your own body, feeling grounded and connected, and having the freedom to bring your own personality into the partnership.

Her goal is to help you build a body that is prepared to follow, but also free to express, explore and truly enjoy the dance.

✨ Laura Dalava

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Laura has over 16 years of dance experience across Classical Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary Dance, Belly Dance, Street Dance, Ballroom and Brazilian Zouk.

She has been teaching since 2013 and regularly participates in professional championships and dance companies. Laura is also a member of the Brazilian Zouk & Lambada Judging Panel and holds All-Star status.

Her teaching methodology combines psychoanalysis, body language studies and highly detailed follower technique, helping students progress with clarity, awareness and confidence.

✨ Nina Darbello

Brazilian-born dancer and performer Nina Darbello began her dance journey through Classical Ballet at the age of 9 and later received a scholarship to a renowned dance school in Campinas, Brazil.

Her background includes Classical and Contemporary Ballet, Jazz, High Heels, Hip-Hop and social dances, with a special focus on Brazilian Zouk, Lambada and Followers Style.

Recognised for her musicality, expressiveness and creative teaching approach, Nina is a teacher, actress, performer, co-director of Barracão da Dança and founder of Nina’s Team — an international online choreography group performing worldwide.

Alongside her partner Matheus Franco, she teaches and performs at major international Zouk and Lambada events around the globe.

✨ Vick Lima

Vick Lima is one of the most exciting Brazilian Zouk dancers and teachers on the international Zouk scene.

Known for her strong technique, incredible musicality and exceptional improvisation skills, Vick brings a unique combination of precision, creativity and expression to her teaching.

Together with her partner Allan, she became a 2025 Brazilian Zouk World Champion. They travel internationally, sharing their knowledge, passion and love for Brazilian Zouk with dancers around the world.

✨ Joanna Zwierzyńska

Founder of The Empowered Dancers, Joanna is a professional dancer, international coach, judge, choreographer and actress. She has taught in more than 30 countries and has played a major role in developing and promoting Brazilian Zouk across Europe.

Known for her expressive solo follower classes, playful energy and high-level technique, Joanna has inspired hundreds of followers around the world to develop their own movement vocabulary and confidence.
